The Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque is one of the most famous and beautiful mosques in Egypt, and obviously the most important and most gorgeous mosque in Alexandria. The mosque is called after a 13th century Sufi saint, Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi. Primarily built in 1775, the Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque has since been renewed, altered, and regenerated to be ready on a number of occasions.

The Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque considers remains an active place of worship. It is also arounded by scores of Muslims from both Morocco and Cairo who are making their way to and from Mecca.

Like numerous of the major mosques in Egypt, this one is also open to guests. However, visitors are expected to dress guardedly, and should avoid coming the mosque during prayer times.
