Mahmoud Shoko, (1912-1985) was born in the Darb al-Ahmar, his real name is: Mahmoud Ibrahim Ismail Musa, an Egyptian comedian, singer and monologues.![]()
Shokoko acted a lot of black and white movies and was associated with Ishmael Yassin, together they made a lot of duets and monologues, Mahmoud Shoko is the only Egyptian artist who had little dolls just look like him, wearing his same custom (Jalabya and a special hat he used to wear) this dolls were made just for him, died in 1985.

Still a lot of his monologues remain to the extent that Egypt Air devoted one radio channels on board of its flights to play the monologues of Mahmoud Shokoko as a pure Egyptian theme.
He also acted some color film later, in minor roles. One of his highlights is his role in film Antar & Lebleb.
He represented a lot of famous monologues and songs like enta enta wla enta dary (you you and you don’t know), Helw Shokoko ( Sweety Shokoko), Garahony we aflo el agzakhanat ( They hurt me and they closed all pharmacies), Set el setat katabo ketabha ( The prettiest of all girls has gotten married), Sherlock Holmes we ehna mawgodeen ( Sherlock Holmes and we are around!), ward alek fol alek ( Roses for you, jasmines for you), and there are more and more hit songs and monologues that are still now very well known and memorable for Egyptians and the whole world that loved him, and always played on all radios and TVs in Egypt.
We all love Shokoko and we won’t forget such a memorable artist like him. Really a one of his kind.
